There is a tension in the air that has been building in this country – and I feel it wherever I go. I’ve noticed that a lot more effort (and prayer) is needed to stay centered and calm. More and more friends have been sharing very difficult personal tribulations and worries with me. I offer them love and comfort as best I can but it’s hard to see suffering of any kind.

A while back, this video made it’s way to me in a very unexpected way, and it came when I sorely needed the message. Today I offer it up
for anyone that is hurting and needing some
hope. I hope it brings you comfort like it did for me.
Peace

Consider the vastness of the universe….can you even do it? This is the reason why I’m convinced that we all spend too much time on stuff and nonsense…Case in point,…this video. Prepare to have your mind blown.

Sometimes I get jammed up with all the mundane routines of life that I forget to stop and get my crazy on like I should. That’s why I so appreciated this random guy dancing alone in his own crazy world. It reminds me that it’s cool to just be brave and start your own party when things aren’t happening at a level that suits your mood. Get this guy at Sasquatch 2009 who shamelessly starts a truly unstoppable party all by himself. I think it’s a beautiful thing.

I really love the CNN‘s Heroes series. It’s nice to see a news outlet focus on GOOD things, although I would appreciate more of it. The CNN Heroes series focuses every week on the good works of amazing people, giving selflessly of themselves, to do things that result in the improvement of the lives of others. What better work on earth could a human being do than to seek ways to help better entire communities? I often find myself weeping by the sheer beauty of the human kindness and spirits of these special people. If you have not seen this before, do yourself (and your mood) a favor and go to the site to view the videos. CNN invites you to vote on your favorite – and I say good luck narrowing it down. All of these people are special and deserving of recognition, though I’m sure they did not engage themselves for personal notoriety. They all have such a humble view of themselves and view their work to be fulfilling in itself. Check it out. http://www.cnn.com/SPECIALS/cnn.heroes/index.html

These kinds of stories are in high demand and short supply, in my humble opinion. I will endeavor to highlight people that do make change – maybe not on the grand scale as the CNN Heroes’ nominees, but there ARE good people doing good things – and sometimes, only a momentary contribution by a single good soul yields a long lasting ripple effect of good. These people inspire me to keep that message alive. There are many examples that I have come across that I will post, starting with a very cool little 5 year old girl named Phoebe who noticed there were hungry people on the street. That observation lead to her question why it was that hungry people lived in the street. Not satisfied with the answers she received, Phoebe decided to act. Here’s her story and the difference she made in her community.

Okay. I’m here. ..at long last…and why, you ask. I’m here to flaunt the imperfection – my imperfections and the imperfection I see in the world. That does not mean I’m going to bitch endlessly about what is wrong with everything. Far from it! Rather, I want to celebrate and glorify the absurd…to shine a light on all that is curious or remarkable in nature (especially human nature).  There will be no darkness here to be sure. I wish only to share some light and laughter and to keep my attitude right.  Join me, won’t you?  If you are in a pissy mood, take some deep breaths and click on the link to a little cheesy goodness from Chet Baker Look for the Silver Lining
